Article No. 17 of Law 29664 states that the Peruvian Armed Forces and National Police participate in Disaster Risk Management (DRM). For this reason, since March 2023, the army of the aforementioned South American country has been helping the populations located on the north and central coast of its territory affected by
Cyclone Yaku. Since when has the Peruvian Army fulfilled this type of role? This article aims to show the main actions carried out by the land military force against the effects caused by nature on the population, taking as the period of analysis the last hundred years of the history of republican Peru, that is, since the decade of the 1920 to the recent effects of Yaku.
