This article proposes an innovative hybrid methodology for calculating the Combat Capability Coefficient (CCC), combining Lanchester's Square Law with the Analysis Hierarchy Process (AHP). This proposal addresses a critical need in the military sphere: the absence of a standardized, mathematically validated, and doctrinally supported method for calculating the CCC within the Peruvian Army. This lack has limited the institutional capacity to objectively assess comparative advantages between weapons systems and make strategic decisions based on quantifiable data.
The developed model allows for ranking key criteria such as firepower, mobility, protection, logistics, technology, and precision (military capabilities), integrating them into a single coefficient that reflects the relative combat capability between military units. Its empirical application has been validated through a comparative analysis of the main battle tanks: the M1A2 Abrams, Leopard 2A4, T-90, and T-55. The results obtained reflect the technological superiority of Western platforms over Soviet ones, with direct implications for the renewal of armored units in the Peruvian Army.
In short, this methodology represents a highly useful technical-scientific tool for operational planning, capability planning, and budget allocation, providing the high command with a solid basis for strategic decisions in the current context. The implementation of this model would fill a significant doctrinal gap and strengthen the modernization process of the Peruvian Land Forces.
